In honor of introducing Waypoint Writing’s latest collaborator, Facebook Advertising Specialist, Teddy Myers, we thought a quick post about why you should get started with Facebook ads was in order, especially in light of recent changes to the Facebook platform. If you haven’t considered shelling out some coin on a structured Facebook ads strategy, you might want to consider the following five reasons to advertise on Facebook.

Or, to put it another way, there are at least 4 Reasons Why You Can’t Ignore Facebook Advertising, not the least of which is that Facebook amassed upwards of $16 billion in global ad revenue in 2017, representing a 25% increase just from February 2015. In other words, there are 2.5 million individuals leveraging Facebook ads to connect with their client base.

Do you feel left out?

Marcus Andrews at Hubspot predicts that “Facebook Ads are going to drive more leads to your business… than any other paid channel.” However, he cautions that “You’ll need to have the right strategy and execute with agility and precision…”

Once again, we give you Teddy Myers.

Spend Coins to Save Bucks

Facebook is one of the most affordable ways to advertise your business, product or service. Instead of nickel and diming your marketing budget and stretching resources too thin, drop a few bucks on a Facebook ad and extend your reach by 1,000 people. Sure, the more you have to spend, the more consumers you’ll reach, but the promise and delivery is the same, regardless of whether your business is a startup or long established.

If the saying, “a picture is worth a thousand words” holds true, this graphic should do some serious heavy lifting when it comes to proving a serious benefit driving the cost of Facebook advertising.

Ready, Aim, Find Your Client Base

Another drawback of traditional marketing, like direct mail, is that it might cast a wide net, but the waters are arguably unknown. While you might be reaching a lot of people, how do you know that they are the right people? You’ve, no doubt, designed your product or service to address the needs and desires of a particular demographic or several demographics, but likely not ALL demographics. So, why pay to target every consumer? Basically, you’re throwing your money away, but without knowing whose dumpster that direct mailing is now lining.

Facebook ads allow you to target your marketing with precision. Almost fanatical precision, in fact. For example, to prove just how targeted Facebook ads can be, Ted Vrountas was able to narrow his reach down to 20 people, based on his filters:

25-30 year-old liberal, divorced, doctorate-holding, female General Motors mechanical technicians, who studied mechanical engineering at Harvard between 2008 and 2012, who have a child between 1 and 2 years old, own a Lincoln, speak English, are interested in XBOX or Microsoft, and are traveling within a 25-mile radius of Boston, Massachusetts.

He’s quick to admit that no one will ever benefit from that kind of uber-specific targeting, but he effectively makes the point that Facebook advertising is the most targeted type of marketing we have at our fingertips (literally) today.

You’re in Good Company!

Remember that old AT&T “reach out and touch someone” marketing campaign? Well, considering the fact that Facebook users total 1.49 billion, which equates to just over one-fifth of the residents on Earth, you’re looking at some serious opportunity to extend that reach. Speaking of marketing campaigns and the upcoming Super Bowl, check out this and other staggering Facebook facts: Facebook boasts “Super Bowl” reach every day on its mobile app.

Magnetic Marketing

Just in case a crazy reach and trusted targeting wasn’t enough, Facebook innovated once again and now helps businesses boost their client base. In the past, the only people who could see your ads were those already following your brand on Facebook. What good does it do to market to a loyal following?

Enter “Website Custom Audiences” and “Lookalike Audiences.”

All it takes to access your “Website Custom Audiences” is a quick pixel pasted on particular pages. Anyone who visits those pages will be added to your targeted demographic. This is a great way to capture anyone who checks out your landing page but clicks out before taking any kind of desired action.

“Lookalike” audiences can be found via your email subscribers. Better yet, Facebook will build an audience that is close to whoever represents your email subscribers.

Essentially, both website custom and lookalike audiences attract more consumers to your brand, giving you another shot at converting them into your client base.

Get Yourself a Glut of Greenbacks

As evidenced by Lyfe Marketing’s Top 25 Benefits of Facebook Advertising & Why You Should be Using Facebook Advertising, “Facebook advertising is not a myth. It actually drives revenue, sales, and leads.”

But, there’s a catch… “The unfortunate part is that is not easy to increase sales through Facebook advertising. It takes time and experience. You could easily waste thousands of dollars and not see any return on your investment. Because of this, we strongly recommend investing in a social media advertising service or hire a Facebook advertising specialist.”
